Penn, born as Jay Dee Penn (“BJ” is short for “Baby Jay”), is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist and was the first non-Brazilian winner of the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in the black-belt category. BJ Penn began fighting in 2001 and is regarded as one of the best ever in the sport due to his impeccable BJJ and boxing skills, as well as his flexibility. Penn is just the second fighter ever in the UFC to win a title in two separate weight classes (Lightweight and Welterweight). The first to complete this was UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture.
